I graduated from the University of South Australia in 1989 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy. I furthered my manual therapy education in North America before starting my own practice in 1993 mostly treating musculoskeletal and sports injuries. By 1998, advanced manual therapy training in myofascial, visceral and cranial approaches allowed me to treat people with chronic dysfunctions of all systems within the body. Helping people with complex and chronic problems remains the primary focus of our practice today

In 2000, I founded the teaching facility the Manual Therapy Institute to disseminate knowledge to other practitioners and I’ve been teaching these classes in Australia and Europe for over 15 years. In 2008, I began teaching counterstrain technique with the Jones Institute. Counterstrain has become a principle technique used in our practice and I became a certified instructor in counterstrain in 2014.
When Karen joined Synergy in 2002, she added a wealth of exercise rehabilitation skills to the manual therapy basis. It’s helped to create a very powerful treatment model that not only relieves symptoms but empowers people to self manage their condition.

I trained as a physiotherapist in the UK, graduating in 1989. After falling in love with Australia following a work exchange to Flinders Medical Centre in 1993, I immigrated to Adelaide a few years later.
We met in 1999 and established Synergy Manual Therapy in 2002.

I’m passionate about helping people with chronic and complex problems to get back to living and enjoying their life.
After treating within the musculoskeletal system for many years, my approach expanded to look outside the square to treat the whole body and mind. My expertise in manual therapy includes counterstrain, visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy. I also became a registered Dru Yoga teacher in 2012.
